Like the Valentine You Had to Pass Out
-The mental meaning: how we’ve tanked through until evaporation into outlines
& retreat. We make a few drawings as the nightly bugle calls, then semi-peace.
-Sweetbread gland we’re only vaguely aware of should last without
our asking. We never asked in that first place.
-Shared illness/disaster automatic-
ally generates intimacy. Your associative mechanism is chipped, outdated.
-
-I remember this way of feeling: returning to plastic or metal.
-In-formation: we don’t know that it does / but we think that it might.
-Sketch us wheels & we’ll digest
absorbent need to digest. Chalk on;
a third skin resembles original so masterfully no
one would tell between. Maybe there will even be a face, tremble calcite cliff teeth.
-1973 peacock in snow remembers your implicit eyes unmoved & darting at the display.

Rules for Appreciators of Signs of Life (Dummy)
...............Should the audition unravel into a tableau resembling natural predators
in empathy, walk out.
...............Your Honor ultimately decides whether to submit your amicus
brief; keep unsolicited opinions relevant.
...............Prepare for inevitable medevac crash. (Fields, rooftops, our uniforms)
...............Should the audition refer to imitation, beware the dogged reply.
...............Do your personal best to bring back suicide doors.
...............In all/most/your neck, I consider myself, of the disembodied woods.
...............Do not be too lofty to tend where the photographer looks as the picture snaps.
...............When does a repeated accident cease to be accidental? When you reinvent brio.
...............Sloughed, raked leaves deposited into transparent plastic bags, knotted,
correspond with season. Have you collected the cast off & piled into sacs, udders
or other receptacles this holiday. Tamp the frivolous down, tamp the frivolous down.
...............The advocates have given up.
