Glimpsed While Driving to Work Half-asleep
A branch falls in slow motion,
lightly touches down
on the road, then rises
with a few slow flaps
of black wings, some leaves
in its mouth to build
a place where even greater
miracles occur.

Cubicle Vs. Casket
One is dull, ochre. The other,
mahogany, gleams. One
has a phone and computer,
the other connects you to
the stars, although its neighbors
are grubs and worms. One
is larger, the other has
more room for personal growth.
